Some often asked questions
Q: How long do you need to keep my knives?
A: Usual turnaround time is within 24 hours, so you won't be without your knives for long. I may be able to provide a loan knife if required.
Q: Are you a mobile sharpening service?
A: No. Knives are sharpened at my workshop in Adelaide's eastern suburbs. Simply drop your knives off and I’ll take care of the rest.
Q: How often should I have my knives sharpened?
A: It depends on how often you use your knives and what you're cutting. Generally, it's best to have them sharpened before they become excessively blunt. This means I can restore the edge without having to remove more metal than necessary.
Here are some tips
1Keep an eye out for good-quality second-hand kitchen knives. You can often pick them up cheaply and have us restore them. You could end up with a set of high-quality, razor-sharp knives for a fraction of the cost of buying new ones.
2Please don't put your knives in the dishwasher as it is tough on your knives. The heat, harsh detergents and movement dulls the edge. It also damages the finish and cause pitting or corrosion to the metal. For the best results, hand wash your knives with warm water and a mild detergent, then dry them straight away.
